Dovzhenko. First Sight

The film is dedicated to the world-famous Ukrainian director Oleksandr Dovzhenko and tells the story of Odesa in 1926 – a city reborn after the First World War and the Civil War, alive with NEP, jazz, boxing, literature, extraordinary cuisine, and the sea. It was an era of romantics, writers, and young cinema – and cinema was the passion of the Odessans.
The story follows the aspiring cartoonist and writer Sashko Dovzhenko, as he takes his first steps in film and becomes a professional director. Notably, this is the first feature film in the history of world cinema about the legendary Oleksandr Dovzhenko, whose work ranks among the twelve greatest films of all time. His legacy continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
