Raising Literacy Attainment Through Film with Into Film

Just Film Industry Days is delighted to be able to offer Estonian teachers and educators a chance to experience one of Into Film’s signature CPD sessions, Raising Literacy Attainment through Film.
Children are native in the language of film. We were raised with the moving image from the earliest age. Film is a familiar and non-threatening.
Raising Literacy Attainment through Film uses the profound strengths of our young peoples’ investment in film to develop their literacy skills through breaking the world of film down into 6 elements, the 3Cs and 3Ss: Camera, Colour, Character - Sound, Setting, Story. Using these 6 elements we can cross fertilise skills from the visual and auditory worlds to increase our young peoples’ literacy attainment in ways that stimulate and engage them.
The session will be lead by Kirsty Gallacher Joint Head of Programmes at Into Film and Alasdair Satchel, Programme Co-Manager at Just Film Industry Days.
Into Film is the UK’s leading film education charity, core funded by the BFI. The organisation works with young people of all ages throughout the UK.
Into Film's website intofilm.org contains 12000 free resources for teachers and students to access and they run film festivals and a schools streaming platform.
A core part of their offer is continual professional development for teachers.
