For 22 editions, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event has been a go-to gathering for film professionals, with many returning year after year. Each time, they’ve made new connections, discovered exciting projects to collaborate on, and expanded their networks. In recent years, we have turned our heads towards the next generation of filmmakers, creating events and programmes tailored just for them.

In 2024, we will welcome just around 80 emerging talents and professionals to attend masterclasses and workshops led by top mentors and to widen their networks.

One of those programmes is Tallinn Industry Academy, an intensive training programme for young professionals in independent film circulation, covering areas like online and traditional distribution, sales, marketing, exhibition, promotion, and festival programming. Originally established by the Locarno Film Festival, the programme expands to Tallinn in 2024. After an open call for applications, 13 young professionals from across Europe were selected to join Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event. The five-day programme combines lectures, panel discussions, and practical tasks, each designed to offer participants valuable insights and connections to help them advance their careers.

The participants of Tallinn Industry Academy include Anna Krejcirova (Czech Republic), Cecilia Pezzini (Italy), Du Liangli (Finland, China), Eva Duriez (France), Gert Põrk (Estonia), Jan Slanina (Czech Republic), Konrad Glabek (Poland), Margarita Rimkus (Latvia), Márton Berecz (Hungary), Noa Nwande (France), Oleksandra Kalininchenko (Ukraine), Rokas Jonas (Lithuania) and Victoire de Pous (France).

Another lab for emerging professionals is "Breaking Into the Industry: Mentorship Programme for Aspiring Producers", a one-of-a-kind initiative created especially for Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event.

This year the lab welcomes 13 young producers across Europe to wintery Tallinn, including Ali Hakim (Germany), Anke Sabrina Beermann (Germany), Annika Ranin (United Kingdom), Dan Grossu (Romania), Inka Hietala (Finland), Jette Blümler (Germany), Jonas Eisenschmidt (Germany), Klara Jovanov (Croatia), Leopold Pape (Germany), Maria Leźnicka (Poland), Maritza Grass (Germany), Pauline Kokla (Estonia) and Tamara Kollmeder (Germany).

Led by Katriel Schory, a seasoned industry veteran with over 40 years of international film experience, the “Breaking Into the Industry …” programme offers hands-on guidance for emerging producers. Through the closed sessions, Katriel will guide participants to develop compelling project presentations that appeal to different funders, and provide insights into building strong producer-director relationships, developing film projects, and shaping personal career and company strategies.

The programme includes plenary sessions, one-on-one mentorship, and interactive industry events, covering the full scope of being a creative producer—from finding compelling stories to mastering the development process and sharpening leadership skills. The five-day programme the participants will have the opportunity to attend other sessions of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, take part in film screenings, networking events etc.

In addition to the two programmes above, the first ever AI Atelier welcomes a handful of enthusiasts to dig deep into the world of generative AI and its applications across the content and creative sectors. The 10th edition of European Genre Forum, with its final lab in Tallinn, boosts the careers of future European players in the genre film. Discovery Campus educational programme welcomes 40 emerging talents – directors, screenwriters, actors and actresses, cinematographers, film music and art department professionals – to attend a wide range of masterclasses, lectures and workshops. Several events are also open to the public (with an accreditation or a day ticket), check the schedule here.
