
Discovery Campus, an international continuing education program by Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, together with prestigious international partners, has opened its call.
Currently, Discovery Campus calls for submissions in four of its strands: Music Meets Film, dedicated to film music, Frame Within a Frame for cinematographers; Black Room focusing on the art department; Black Nights Stars, designed for actors and actresses. Emerging actors, and actresses, cinematographers as well as talents in the film music and art department are invited to send in their submissions by 31 May 2026.
The call for Script Pool competition, showcasing five international projects and their teams (director-scriptwriter, and producer) will be open from 1 to 30 June 2026.
Since this year, the Discovery Campus also includes sub-sections Breaking into the Industry for aspiring producers and Tallinn Industry Academy for emerging professionals in film circulation. The calls for those programmes will be announced in August.
"Discovery Campus serves as a vital nexus where upcoming talent can network with like-minded filmmakers and showcase their work against the backdrop of an A-list festival," states Dhanuska Gunathilake, who was appointed Head of Discovery Campus earlier this year.
"We provide a unique platform for 1-to-1 mentorship with industry experts, ensuring that emerging professionals receive direct, personalized guidance. By fostering deep collaborations between academia and practitioners, the programme acts as a strategic bridge connecting the classroom to the film market. Our mission is to unite educational insights with the expertise of market leaders to ensure a successful and sustainable career path for the next generation of cinema, "Gunathilake adds. “We specifically welcome those who are currently preparing for their first feature film and are looking for a professional stage to share their experiences and pitch their work.”
In 2026, about 65 emerging talents will be selected to attend the programme and based on the last year’s feedback, participating in Discovery Campus has high value. The participants have deeply valued the opportunity to learn directly from award-winning film professionals through hands-on workshops, masterclasses, and live events.
The Discovery Campus 2026 edition’s five-day programme is in development will be announced in autumn.
The list of speakers and mentors of Discovery Campus’ previous editions include director Sahar Rozen, director, producer and BAFTA-winner Mike Newell, cinematographers Philippe Ros AFC, Roberto Schaefer ASC AIC , John-Christian Rosenlund FNF , Rauno Ronkainen FSC and Ville Penttilä FSC ICLS, Dante Spinotti, production designers Jacqueline Abrahams, Maria Djurkovic, Simon Weisse, Sabine Hviid, Christian Olander, Kave Quinn, acclaimed composer, arranger and songwriter John Altman, internationally known casting directors Cassandra Han, Frank Moisell, and Julia Short from International Screen Institute among others.
The Discovery Campus programme is carried out in close cooperation with international partners, including the International Screen Institute, the online platform T-Port, Aalto University and IMAGO Technical Committee (ITG), e-Talenta, ARRI, Camera Nordic, American Society of Cinematographers (ASC),Estonian Society of Cinematographers and International Cinema Lighting Society (ICLS). Euro Cine Expo and Music City Tallinn.
In 2026, the programme takes place from November 16-20 in Tallinn during the renowned Black Nights Film Festival and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event.
