Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event has been officially audited by Greentime and recognized as a Certified Sustainable Event. The Sustainable Events certification is a quality seal developed by Greentime to advance sustainability efforts within the event industry.
Together with Greentime, the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event team has meticulously reviewed and documented every aspect of its 2024 summit. The certification standard, based on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development outlined in Agenda 2030, provides a comprehensive framework to guide events toward greater sustainability and is verified by independent auditors. Additionally, a site inspection will be conducted during the event to ensure all sustainability measures are effectively implemented.
Marge Liiske, the head of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, assures that sustainability is a topic close to the team’s heart. “Sustainability is something we truly care about. It’s not just a checklist for us—it’s about making real changes that show respect for our environment and community. We’ve learned a lot on this journey, and this certification is a proud moment for our team. It shows that events can be impactful and responsible, and it inspires us to keep pushing forward”.
Simon Strandvik, CEO of Greentime, added, "In preparing for the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, the organizers have made impactful strides toward sustainability. Together, we've focused on everything from engaging partners in meaningful dialogue to choosing eco-friendly materials, and I believe visitors will recognize the value of these efforts. This event is the first in Estonia and has scored very high compared to other events."
Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event’s sustainability approach is anchored on three key pillars: environmental, economic, and social responsibility. This includes fostering an inclusive and equitable environment, supporting local economies, and reducing the event's carbon footprint. Practical measures include hosting the event at the centrally located and easily accessible Nordic Hotel Forum, which holds a Green Key certification, partnering with the City of Tallinn to offer free public transport for guests, using sustainable and digital marketing materials, eliminating unnecessary gifts and printed materials, and sourcing local products for catering. Additionally, safer space guidelines have been established, and gender balance and intersectionality are prioritized when selecting participants for prominent roles. The event's program also features discussions and workshops on climate change, social justice, and sustainable production practices.
